Something smaller is opening, and perhaps for that reason, something more direct.
Deuskouros Phoenix is preparing Pocket Theatre, a new production line designed for smaller spaces, minimal expressive means and a close relationship with the audience. The aim is not to reduce theatre, but to intensify it: to ask what remains when distance disappears, when the performer and spectator share the same air, and when the smallest gesture must carry the weight of a whole world.
The first announced direction in this line is The Table by Anastasis Karagiannis.
Five people. A family table. A place everyone takes into account but no one names.
The work belongs to a theatre of proximity: intimate, precise, and attentive to what is present even when it is not spoken. It continues the association’s interest in ensemble presence, shared memory and human-scale dramaturgy, while opening a new form suitable for independent venues, cultural spaces and close audience encounters.
More details will follow soon. For now, The Table marks the beginning of a quieter, more concentrated line of work: theatre near enough to be felt before it is explained.
