Theater as Relationship, Repertoire as a Living Body
A reflection on Deuskouros Phoenix’s next artistic period: not as a list of productions, but as an ensemble practice of memory, research, proximity and shared responsibility.
Deuskouros Pheοnix speaks about theater as relationship: not only performance, not only production, but a field where bodies, voices, memories and responsibilities meet. This is why the next repertoire period should not be understood as a calendar of titles. It is closer to a living body.
On the public site, the works in development form a map of pressures: Ibsen’s Vikings of Helgeland brings memory, force, fate and collective presence; R.U.R. 2027 / The Mechanical Garden opens questions around machines, care and exhaustion; Goethe’s Das Märchen turns toward symbols, transition and transformation; a new Irish chamber direction remains under exploration. Around them, Pocket Theater begins another line: smaller spaces, minimal means, direct human distance.
What unites these directions is not theme alone. It is method. Long-term rehearsal, shared research, aesthetic discipline, and the belief that the stage is a place where people learn how to remain with one another.
In an age of speed, the ensemble proposes another rhythm: slow attention, collective craft, and work made “by deeds, no longer by words.” Repertoire becomes not a product, but a form of communal intelligence.
